Finally, some crock pot/slow cooker action! Sheesh! It has only been about forever since I dusted mine off, but I will try and be more diligent in utilizing it! This was actually the perfect recipe for today since I got off work around 3 and was able to put the ground hamburger into the crock pot along with my taco seasoning and do other things without having to hover over my oven browning meat! It takes a bit longer due to obvious reasons, but once you try it this way I highly doubt you will do it the stove top rout again! Less dishes, grease splatter, and stress! Woo Hoo!
1.5-2 Lbs Lean Ground Beef
3-4 Tbsp Taco Seasoning http://sarahb413.com/2013/08/20/homemade-taco-seasoning/
1/2 Cup Water
14 Oz Can of Black Beans
Lettuce; shredded & whole romaine hearts (for lettuce wraps)
Small Purple Onion; thinly sliced
Small Yellow Onion; diced
2 Roma Tomatoes; diced
1 Cup Shredded Cheddar Cheese
Put the ground beef in your crock pot/slow cooker and break it up well .
Turn it up to the highest setting….
Sprinkle with taco seasoning….
And mix well to distribute the seasoning evenly.
Add water then allow to cook covered for an hour…
Drink some wine to kill the time….
Stir in diced onions then allow to cook covered for another hour.
Awww just look at it….
This is what it should look like after the hour is up.
Add black beans and cook an additional half hour.
Shred you lettuce…
Slice up the onion…
Dice your tomatoes….
Shred the cheese
Chop the cilantro…
Assemble all the fixings in an area and let every one make their own tacos!
I was trying to go about this a different way for myself and made mine into lettuce wrap tacos but I was good and didn’t force Mikey to eat them…. he had regular soft tacos….
