Sooooo… please bear with me, I m a few glasses deep but still am committed enough to be a better blogger and have this posted tonight!
So tonight I went grocery shopping and had something else totally different in mind for dinner, but once I got home and put everything away I decided I wanted to experiment a bit.
I ditched my original plans for fried chicken to go with a Beer Braised Sirloin Pork Chop with Mushrooms.
Mind you, if you follow my blog, you know I hate mushrooms, so this was really for the boyfriend and roommate lol. Such a caring roomie, aren’t I???
4 Boneless Pork Sirloin Chops (3/4″ thick)
1/4 Cup Flour
1 Tbsp. Extra Virgin Olive Oil
5 Oz. Sliced Mushrooms
1 Purple Onion; Chopped
1 Tbsp. Dried Thyme Leaves
2 Garlic Cloves; minced
2 Tbsp. Butter
8 Ounces Beer (any dark lager will work)
Salt and Pepper
First, set up a nice assembly line with your pork chops, flour, and a plate.
Lightly coat each chop with flour and set aside.
Then heat a sauté pan over medium heat and melt 1 Tbsp. of butter.
Once it is all bubbly add the pork chops and quickly sear both sides.
Once both sides are seared and have a nice golden crust around the edges, transfer to a plate and cover with foil.
Melt the remaining tablespoon of butter in the same sauté pan then add your onions, garlic, mushrooms, and thyme.
Sauté for one minute then add your chops back to the pan.
Give the pan a good shake to situate the chops…
Add the lager and give the pan another shake.
Bring to a boil then reduce heat to low.
Cover and simmer for 8 minutes.
